Valentine’s Day Date Inspo

By Julia Prendergast

Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating your relationships with those close to you, whether you’re taken or not! Ottawa has some great spots to take your loved ones – here are our top 5:

  1. The Moonroom (442 Preston Street)

The Moonroom, a cozy spot in Ottawa’s Little Italy, is effortlessly cool. They’re known for their amazing service and tasty cocktails, which are just as unique as the menu. The artisanal board is great to share and pairs well with many of their drinks! P.S. – in case you haven’t heard, there are no phones (perfect for a date!) or reservations allowed. This lounge mostly relies on word of mouth, so it’s a great place to check out.

  1. J’Adore Beauty Bar and Lounge (329A Elgin Street)

If you and your gal pals are looking for something to do, why not try J’Adore? Not only are they a full-service beauty bar, with amazing treatments for both your nails and skin, they also have a full list of cocktails for you to enjoy while you relax! The classic mimosa is definitely a safe bet, or you can mix it up with one of their creative mixes, like the Blooming Hibiscus.

  1. Captiva Farms Horseback Riding (189 Chemin de la Montagne)

Captiva Farms in Wakefield, Quebec offers winter horseback rides all season long – the perfect Valentines trip for your outdoorsy loved one! The winter season is definitely what you make of it, and Captiva Farms offers you a picturesque landscape in the Gatineau Hills. Trail rides can be reserved as soon as 24 hours in advance, so no worries – you still have time to book!

  1. Valentine’s Partner Yoga (52 Armstrong Street)

Prana Shanti Yoga Centre is offering a Valentine’s Day Partner Yoga class (for yogis of all levels) with Melissa Delaney! It’s the perfect date for significant others or friends, where you’ll explore different postures and breath work, as well as simple massage techniques. At $60 per couple, you’ll get to experience a playful, stress-free yoga class with your favourite person.

  1. The Grand Ice Bar (74 George Street)

The Grand in the Byward Market has an actual ice bar on their patio, open every weekend from January 31st to February 17th! You can chill out and enjoy some local craft brews and seasonal cocktails or cozy up around their fire pits with some hot chocolate. It opens at 4 PM on Valentine’s Day and there will be some live music (with no cover or time restrictions) – can’t get better than that!
