JUMP!’s Random Acts of Kindness

JUMP!’s Random Acts of Kindness

By: Julia Prendergast

We’ve partnered with Gabriel Pizza for Heroes in Our Community, where we’ll be delivering pizza to those deserving members of the Ottawa community. Listen to the JUMP! Drive with Tony & Dayna Monday-Friday, from 2-7 PM, to make nominations and share some feel-good stories.

If you’re looking for some inspiration of your own, we came up with some random acts of kindness for you to practice:

1. Let someone go ahead of you in line

It’s easy to get impatient – especially in a time like now. How great would it feel to make someone else’s day a little easier? Next time you’re at the grocery store with some time on your hands, take a step (of 6 ft) back.

2. Pay for the person behind you in the drive-thru

While we’re social distancing, drive-thru’s have become even more popular. Why not pay for a coffee for the person behind you? Better yet, buy one for your server!

3. Send a letter of support

It’s a great time to write a letter to brighten up someone’s day. There are a variety of charities and retirement homes that collect letters to hand out to those who may be missing their family at this time. From patients to health care workers, everyone could use a little extra love.

4. Reconnect with an old friend

There’s never been a better time to get back in touch with an old friend. It’s so important to show your support to everyone in your life, whether new or old. Everyone could use a little pick-me-up!

5. Go a whole day without complaining

It’s easy to complain when it feels like everything’s going wrong, which is why it’s so important to look on the bright side! There’s great things happening every day if you look close enough, from the environmental benefits we’re seeing to the compassion of health care workers around the globe.
