Culture Connects Communities is a fundraising campaign supporting the African Canadian Association of Ottawa (ACAO). The campaign is run by students in the Algonquin College public relations (ACPR) program.
In just 33 years, ACPR students have raised over $500,000 for local charitable organizations. This year, the campaign will support ACAO because of the great work they do to make Ottawa a more dynamic, exciting, and vibrant city.
ACAO is an umbrella organization of 53 country associations representing approximately 65,000 people of African descent. This organization connects people to their own culture and introduces the rest of the city to vibrant cultural events. ACAO’s anti-racism initiatives highlight areas of improvement for our community.
This organization is dear to us especially given the current political and social climate. We feel that it is important that we continue to shine a light on racial inequality, celebrate cultures and diversity
