Autism Speaks Canada Walk on Wheels Car Parade

The Autism Speaks Canada Walk  brings together the autism community to celebrate and support one another and fuel Autism Speaks Canada’s mission. This year, to keep our community safe, healthy and connected, we’ve reimagined the Walk to become the Autism Speaks Canada Walk on Wheels Car Parade – a family friendly and safe car parade driven by love and kindness. We have two exciting options to come together as a community and help raise understanding and acceptance of people with autism. While the Walk will look different this year, what you love most will remain the same. Here’s how you can join:

Inspired by the car parades that brought joy to so many during these times of social distancing, we are hitting the road to celebrate together while being safely spread apart.

Special Offer: First 300 Teams to register and raise $100 will receive a one of a kind limited edition Autism Speaks Canada Car Flag.

Ileana, Ottawa and National Ambassador

Ileana is 16 years old and was diagnosed with autism at the age of two. Ileana is a gentle soul with a heart of gold and loves everyone, especially her brother and her puppy. She gets very excited to see her brother play sports and is his biggest cheerleader! She has an infectious laugh and beautiful smile that lights up any room she walks into.

Ileana loves multitasking on her iPad and enjoys listening to music. One can often find Ileana searching for music videos on youTube and singing along. Ileana absolutely loves traveling. When its time to go on vacations, she gets super excited and even brings all our suitcases to the front door.

Ileana is honoured to represent Autism Speaks Canada as the local Ambassador for Ottawa and the National Walk Ambassador for Autism Speaks Canada’s 2020 Walks.

“Team Ileana looks forward to walking, raising money and creating awareness for autism. We are blessed with the most supportive family, friends and community who have been with us throughout our journey.” – Elpitha Gournakis, Mother, Ottawa
