5 Secret Bars to Spice Up Your Post-Quarantine Night Out

By: Julia Prendergast

Ottawa has a ton of fun (and secret) bars all across town, from themed pubs to hidden restaurants. We put together a list of five to get you started on your post-quarantine bar crawl:

The Staff Room (315 Somerset St. W.)

It’s Ottawa’s own speakeasy! If you head through Union 613 to the basement (the entrance is hidden behind… you guessed it, a bookcase!), you’ll find The Staff Room, where you can try some funky cocktails and top-shelf liquor.

The Manx Pub (370 Elgin St.)

The Manx Pub has been serving locals since 1993, featuring historic church pews and stained glass windows. It’s in the basement and easily missed, but you definitely have to try their famous breakfast menu.

Ward 14 (139 Preston St.)

This bar also functions as a consignment shop! That’s right – there’s a bunch of quirky pieces just waiting for you to take home for yourself. They also have a great selection of drinks and feature vintage games, weekly trivia nights, and more.

The Albion Rooms (33 Nicholas St.)

This restaurant actually used to be a hotel, so it definitely makes for an interesting night out! You can enjoy a selection of impressive cocktails while your designated driver indulges in something from their ‘driving cocktails’ menu (don’t worry, it’s filled with delicious mocktails)!

Prohibition Public House (337 Somerset St. W.)

You’ll feel like you just stepped into a gastropub with Prohibition‘s intimate setting and vast array of craft beers and cocktails. You can’t go wrong!
