WHAT'S NEXT - Taylor Swift and Blackbear Drop New Tracks, While a Calgary Duo is "Stunnin'" The Charts

So, the Coronavirus pandemic shuts down your tour. For Taylor Swift, that was no problem. She decided to make an album while in isolation.

Taylor’s new album “Folklore” has already received rave reviews. This is very much a ‘chill album’. The songs are low to mid-tempo. Nothing fast or super upbeat. Each song tells a story. The Taylor Swift superfans have already figured out how certain songs come together to make one complete story.

The first single “Cardigan” was released along with a video, which Taylor wrote, styled and directed.

TikTok has become a major source for new music over the past several months. Many songs that went viral on the social media platform have become big mainstream hits.

Calgary musicians Curtis Waters and Harm Franklin had their song “Stunnin'” go viral on TikTok, as users uploaded the song constantly to their videos. That got the attention major label executives, who tried to sign the duo. They decided to stay independent and the song took off to levels they never expected. “Stunnin'” became the fastest song by an independent artist to land on Spotify’s Flagship Playlist.

Blackbear released his first sing from his new album “Everything Means Nothing”, which will be released in two parts, this summer.

The first single “Queen of Broken Hearts” is not the first song to take on social media. However in this case, the song focuses on how social media plays a role in mental health. Particularly on how some people share their personal flaws online, leaving them open as targets for criticism, abuse or cyber bullying.
