A Kingston Police officer is facing a number of charges in connection with a collision last year involving a cyclist.
The province’s Special Investigations Unit announced the charges against Const. Daniel Attwood on Monday.
The SIU investigation found that on Sept. 19, a 39-year-old man was riding a bicycle southbound on Portsmouth Avenue when he was approached by police officer and was ordered to stop.
The cyclist disobeyed the order and kept riding. That’s when it’s alleged the officer ran into the cyclist with his cruiser, causing serious injuries.
Attwood has been charged with one count each of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, attempt to obstruct police, assault with a weapon and breach of trust.
He has been released on a promise to appear in court on March 21.
