TIME has announced their Person of the Year, or rather, People of the Year honouree for 2017.
The famed publication released a statement explaining this year’s choice, ending with a powerful statement;
“For giving voice to open secrets, for moving whisper networks onto social networks, for pushing us all to stop accepting the unacceptable, the Silence Breakers are the 2017 Person of the Year.”
The cover features the likes of Taylor Swift, Ashley Judd, Susan Fowler, Adama Iwu, and Isabel Pascual, all of whom (alongside hundreds of others) became powerful voices in the #MeToo movement.
Terry Crews, Rose McGowan, Selma Blair, Alyssa Milano, and several others are featured in the article, sharing their stories of sexual harassment and assault, and their hope for the future.
US President Donald Trump was named as the first runner up, followed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, and special counsel Robert Mueller.
