As we get closer to marijuana being legalized in Canada (on July 1st, 2018), the federal government wants to get the message across that operating a motor vehicle on public roads while high is as dangerous as drunk driving and has similar consequences.
On Tuesday, the #DontDriveHigh campaign was launched. Similar campaigns have been launched in Washington and Colorado, the first two U.S. states that legalized marijuana. Both states showed an increase of fatal collisions involving high drivers.
The campaign shows graphic images and geared towards young people, but the message should come across to drivers of all ages.
